Plano Humano is pleased to announce that its Odivelas Municipal Housing project has been distinguished with the Category Winner 2026 award, in the Architecture — Social Architecture category, by the LOOP Design Awards.
This distinction recognizes an intervention dedicated to the creation of high-quality municipal housing, developed in response to the specific needs of the families who previously occupied the site. The project comprises 19 housing units of different typologies, designed to meet the rehousing needs of the existing families.
Beyond the provision of housing, the proposal seeks to establish a harmonious relationship with its surroundings through the creation of green areas and communal spaces that promote a more qualified use of public space and contribute to a better experience of the outdoor environment.
Adapting to the site’s topography and the need for cost-controlled construction were key challenges of the project. The proposal addresses these through solutions that seek to balance efficiency, functionality, and spatial and architectural quality.
This recognition represents the collective effort of our team and reinforces Plano Humano’s commitment to socially responsible architecture, capable of responding to the real needs of communities and demonstrating that affordable housing can also be synonymous with quality, dignity, and urban integration.
