Plano Humano is pleased to announce that its Gaiôa Residential Complex project has been distinguished as a Citation Winner 2026, in the Concept Design — Residential Concept category, by the LOOP Design Awards.
This distinction recognizes a residential proposal that seeks to establish a balanced relationship between architecture, public space, and the urban context. Located in Montijo, the project comprises five multifamily residential buildings, with a total of 100 housing units, organized around a central green square designed to be enjoyed by both residents and the surrounding community.
The proposal extends the existing road network and reinforces the integration of the new development with the surrounding urban structure. At the same time, the architecture seeks to extend the domestic experience into the outdoors through large glazed openings, balconies, terraces, and green spaces integrated into the buildings’ composition.
Materiality also plays a central role in defining the identity of the development, combining a wooden outer skin with exposed concrete slabs and a dynamic composition of openings, balconies, and planters. This approach brings nature closer to the architecture while reinforcing the principles of sustainability and spatial quality.
This recognition represents the collective effort of our team and reinforces Plano Humano’s commitment to contemporary, integrated, and conscious architecture — creating residential spaces that not only enhance the quality of life of their inhabitants, but also strengthen their relationship with the city and the community.
